: I shoe a horse with Nav. he's 17yrs.& arthritic. But i do not rocker the shoe, nor do i roll it & he seem's comfortable without it so i shoe him with a Eggbar shoe with bar wedges. He needs the bar wedges to be at a comfortable angle. The vet say's his Nav. bone is getting bad enough to elevate his heel's at this point. My question is do some Horses require rocker, roller toe. when other's don't? This Horse is alway's sound after a shoeing!
He may have a good balanced foot, with the end of the toe naturally back where it belongs after it is trimmed (no farther forward than about 1-1/4" to 1-1/2"ahead of the tip of the frog.
If that is the case, the breakover is correct without any help from the shoe design. Patty
