I have heard farriers say for years, I don't want to raise prices on my good clients. Bottom line is it a fact of business.

You need to ask your self, dose that client get a pay raise at his or hers job. If the answer is no. Then don't raise your prices to them. If the ansewer is yes, then don't feel guilty about increasing your prices.

As I have stated here before, one way to ease the that price increase is to cut a deal with your local tack store, where they will give you a coupond to give to your clients for 5%, 10% off of iteams in the store. The couponds cost you nothing. They bring new clients into the store. It tends to promote good will between the store and you and the clients and you. It is a win, win for all. It keeps your clients get a discount to offset your price increse, it adds new business and repeat business for the store. You have given something of value to you clients in return for thier business. But you have not cut you bottom line.

Another plus that I found, when people come into to the store looking for a farrier, you name is the first given out.

Just what worked for me in the past.
