: What is the most effective way to educate clients in the ways of proper training without my having to repeat myself over and over?
: I mean, these are obviously educated folks but it's almost like it flies right over their heads!
: They are a bit green but have had horses for many years... just not improving in their education.
Scott, as far as the owners go, would it be helpful to paint a picture for them with humor and tact to illustrate what it's like to shoe or trim distracted horses? Such as "Mr. Prosecutor having to retrieve his briefcase from a frisky Sumo wrestler 20 minutes before a hearing." Sure, he could still get his job done (if the sumo wrestler turned out to be at all accommodating) but it sure makes his job alot tougher. It conveys physical hardship, mental hardship and time constraints, but it doesn't step on any toes or pass judgement on his horsemanship skills. If he gets lazy about it , a gentle reminder like "The sumo wrestler's in the truck, now where's that briefcase?" could keep things in order.
Hopefully you can get this under control before you start to feel resentful about it, which would be understandable, so that you don't "go off" on them on a stressful day and ruin your relationship.
Hope this is helpful to you.
