: I do the veterinary work for the US Park Police and there needs to be some serious changes in their shoeing.
: My question is what sort of material would wear well enough on pavement with reasonable traction for these horses.
: Currently they wear a steel shoe with borium calks at the toes and heels. They wear out a set of shoes approximately every six weeks.
: All input would be appreciated with experience in this area of materials.

Doc,
I use clipped kerkherts with tungsten pins inserted....2 in the toe and one on each heel. I get them from Centaur Forge. It takes only a few seconds to drill the shoe and whack them in. They afford good traction and wear on pavement.
Some of the police horses I do have gone to the Old Mac boots from Australia and those that have purchased them rave about them. They are about $140 a pair but last a long time and work incredibly well.
