: I've heard about it and was wondering exactly what impression material is? And what is it used for.

: Thanks,

It is a two part silicone based putty, hich sets up like fim rubber after the twop parts are mixed together. it is the same stuff dentists use to make a mold of your teeth. (why everyone used to call it "Dental impresion material") It is used anytime the foot needs accuratly placed support. It can be very beneficial as part of the shoeing package for treating laminitis, weak feet with flat soles and/or prolapsed frogs, negative plane coffin bones, navicular syndrome, contracted heels etc.
One reason it is sometimes better than a "liquid" support material such as equipack is that it can be placed in the foot with a hard temporarily taped on, then the pad removed after it sets up(a few minutes) then the material can be trimmed away from any sensitive areas which need to be non weight bearing, before the shoe and pad are placed on the foot.
