There used to be a brass hoof gauge made for ponies. I don't know if it still is in production, so you might want to check the marketplace here on the site. Absent that, if your approach to trimming revolves around trimming to the live sole plane, you most likely will not need to use a hoof gauge at all, other than to check your work as a "checks and balances" approach. Remember that no to gauges have ever measured quite the same, and if the one you use gets knocked around even a little bit in your truck , its accuracy, or lack thereof, will be greatly affected.
