: : How efective have you found the degree--frog pressure pads in the treatment of new cases of navicular ----- sore in the back of the foot problems --- vet blocked heels and said it's in the back half of the foot , great diagnosis !!!!!!! Thanks.

:
: I got a new client with a four year old paint diagnosed with navicular and grade three bilaterally lame. Had been in two degree aluminum egg bars with no change. I sugested NB type shoes (and trim principals) with the two degree frog support pads, with impresion material.
: After two shoeings, she was going very well unless worked hard, and then not near as bad as she had been.
: There are many companys makeing this type of pad, they all seem to be good.

Are you referring to the Myron Mclane frog support rim pad? If so, I have found them to be very useful. I am not a fan of covering up the entire sole. It keeps the foot damp and the sole too soft; not a good thing especially for weak soles. I like the rim pad design with the frog support. The sole can stay dry and hard. (this assumes that the horses feet see a hoof pick regularly and don't stand around in mud all day) The frog support is a good thickness so it is easy to take to the belt grinder and adjust the frog pressure for each individual horse. At first I was concerned about these pads(and any other pad) staying on big jumping horses; but I do use side clips, and a rolled toe shoe set back for breakover. I use 6 nails at most and sometimes only 4. Does anyone know of any other brands of frog support "rim" pads out there????
My 5 cents
Anne
