: : : : : Hey, I am looking for a remote clinch releaser. You know to install on the shoes of clients who don't call to get their horses reshod until the last shoe falls off...like maybe 5 months... This would be especially handy to have by this fall when I shoe for hunters not the english sort , but the big game dudes. Not only do I get tired of trimming all that overgrown hoof, but the horses have got to be uncomfortable too. Anyway I couldn't find it on the marketplace page. Does anyone know where I can get some and any advise on how to install? Are they pricey? I probably won't add the cost on to the shoeing job because I guess I'll get a little more business from a few clients then the usual 2 x's a year!!
: : : : : got to love shoein' lee mc
: : : : What we really need is a meter or gauge that shows the owners how much overgrowth has occurred and be able to charge for the "missed" appointments! Just an idea! Gary

: : : I'm still looking for the nails that some use that disintegrate after 5 to 6 weeks
: : : Scott
: : I think I will start charging in 1/8 inch increments. Shoot some I did last month would have been a $300.00 trim. I have one "client" who said the hinds did real well stayed one four months but the fronts only lasted two and a half. Then there are always the horses that pull shoes with their teeth and thow them over the fence, have to no shoes to be found anywhere.

: I have a couple of ways of dealing with this. First off, I charge new customers and called-in appointments more...new customers need to be set up in the record keeping and are treated as a call-in which needs to be fit into our schedule. Secondly, I have tell new customers if you don't want to go on a regular schedule, I am not interested in taking them on. I try to schedule the next appointment prior to leaving the current job. Some are left on a will call basis, if more than a 6 week rotation, in which I will call them prior to showing up when I am in the area. Works for me!

I'll be waiting for those lab results, Bill. Maybe get together with Scott on his disintegrating nails. thanks for the other ideas, but I'm not out to take more money from the clients/job. Just to help the horse have happy hooves! I don't even keep regular schedules on my eye and teeth appointments Glad my dentist doesn't charge more for each extra layer of crud he cleans off my teeth for not staying on a 2 x's / year teeth cleaning schedule.
gotta love shoein', lee mc
