: I had a horse owner that called today for a "colt package" on his Tennessee Walking Horse. Being from Texas, there isn't a high demand for this and I am not too sure of what he is asking for. Can anybody help me out. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If you really want to tackle this, be up front with the owner that you will work with him on this shoeing, but you do not routinely do these. If he knows exactly what he wants and you feel it is doable for you and not harmful to the horse, then go for it. If you do not feel comfortable with it, tell the owner this and he will appreciate your candor.

There are no standard "colt packages" other than a smaller version of the "big lick" package for the show TWH. Care is required in applying this to a youngster and it should ideally be done gradually for optimum result.
