: : I picked up a new barn today of show Arabians entire barn has under grown heels and long toes and a foal that was trimmed at 3 or 4 days old and now he is also under grown at the heel department I was going to use the vettec today but the tempature here was hot enough that the vettec harden in the mixing tip and ran out of tips before the foal could be done going back on saturday to finish the foal any suggestions would be appreciated . I was wondering what everyone else was charging for foal extensions

: If you get a small cooler you can keep a few tubes in there with ice packs and slow the cure time. I also have better luck with the Adhere product by mixing it in a small cup and applying with a tongue depressor than using a mixing tip. You can layer it more easily and it is less costly without the tip use.

: I charge for time and at least one half of a tube whether I use a half tube or not. If I use more than a half tube I charge for a full tube. I charge $18 for a half tube of Vettech product and $34 for a full tube plus $3 for each tip used. Time is based on how easily the foal handles. I don't have a flat fee since the owner that takes the time to handle his foal will reap the benefit of the trtained foal over the wild one.
