: Hi Patty! Thank's for giving me some info on how to treat thrush. But i have another question. Where can i buy & order this "foot felt"? I have the Centaur Forge book but it's not in there. Also should i just pack the feet with felt alone & leave the Horse barefoot? Or should i shoe this Horse with the felt, meds,& pads? Probley just the felt huh? Anymore info? Thanks!

The foot felt is the same product that is used to remove oil from boat bilges before they pump the water out. (it floats on the water and soaks up the oil spills) ..so if you are anywhere near a marine or large boat supply ask for 'boat bilge oil absorbant sheets" . It is waaay cheaper from the boat store too, only about 75 cents for a big sheet.
I either shoe with NB principles or barefoot them if possible, but try to avoid pads. Sometimes on the horses who absolutely need frog support pads, I pack the footfelt in the frog sulcis before I apply the shoe and pad, so at least it is there as "wick" to pull the meds into the sulcis from the back. Patty
