Mike, I have had good success useing open toe heartbar shoes on some WLD providing the affected area is limited to the dorsal wall. If the wall is undermined behind the widest part or in the heel region I have used sole support sytems with great results. With extensive detatchment of the wall, its important to offer an unloading of the wall and provide internal support thru the frog, bars, and digital cushion. There are several ways to do this. Simply nailing on a 1/2" double nail pad (with out a shoe) is a great way to start. Using impression material, equi-pak, or layers of foot felt under the double nail pad provides dynamic internal support across the caudle aspect. After the pad is applied you can then attach frog inserts and/or wedges depending upon the individual needs of each horse. You probably have this horse going by now, but let me know if you want more info. Good luck, Mark
