: Just became re-acquainted with a 7yr old QH gelding with a (now ) probably grade 3 club. I had this guy preety well under control for quite a while, till he was about 5, but wouldn't you know it, the client bought a magazine and saw a website. You can probably guess the rest, now it seems ol' Jack might not have been so bad afterall.
: Anyhow, thats a different story for another time; what I need is some advice on starting to remedy the process all over again. I have some ideas; (ie, rocker toed-leave a gap- swelled heel shoe with frog support system) on where I'm trying to get but would sure like some additional input if for nothing else but moral support. He's a swell horse and shes a great client who wants to fully repent for her digreession. Thanks, Jack

Hi Jack, I have been working on a horse that the R.F. is clubby long heels and deep frog. The feet grow alot in 4 to 5 weeks, the L.F. is slightly broken back low heel and flat sole. This horse is constantly lame, he is a big horse with small feet for his size. He is constantly sore on the L.F. for a few years. He has been checked by a local clininc and the farrier at the clinic recommended trimming the heels down to the widest part of the frog and applying wedged aluminum egg bars with equipak for more caudle support. I have done this 4 times on this horse and he is doing very well. He is not totaly sound, but is more comfortable and she can work him more than she use to. The idea is to get as much caudle support as you can. The long heels and deep frog can cause alot of problems in a clubby foot.

Phil
