: Ok I have a couple questions. The last week or so I have got 2 new clients. Both have foundered horses. Well 1 has 1 foundered horse and 1 foundered donkey! Anyway all the horses have been foundered for awhile none seem real sore, either that or there just use to it. The farrier I apprenticed with always told me to back the toe up, and get rid of dead, seperated wall at the toe. None of the hoses have at x-rays, heck one owner did not know what founder was! Is there anything I might consider with these horses? Or just keep the trims up if they apear in no pain? Also what is the EDSS system? And where can I find info on it? thanks for the help!

Just go to the website for EDSS. It is found at www.hopeforsoundness.com, or just click on it at the "marketplace" in this site (on the homepage)
There is a ton of information there including the history of the system ,an overview of the system, a bulletin board area for Q and A , archived newsletters and tech help. You can order a free promotional video,(which is just an overview of the system...not intended to be instructional) or you can just buy the *very* detailed instructional video. If you decide to buy a system you are required to have the instructional video the first time anyway. That is to insure that the farrier s using it ahave at least a rudimentary understanding of the shoeing process.
You will see in the instruction video the amount of attention that must go into many small details of the hoof preperation and system application that make it easy to customize the support for each case. And it illustrates how to make decisions in the application that best suit each horse.
