: : Have a horse with 2* rotation on right and extremely long toe/low heel. Left has no rotation and less of the LT/LH. Shod today with EDSS according to rads. Immediately moved better in high rails on right (wasn't quite right on low or medium) and low rails on left. Shod hind feet and watched him move again- off on right. I lowered him back down to mid-rails and he did slightly better but still off. Put him in arena on longe line and he never took a lame step. By evening (4 hours later) got a call from owner- he's lame on the left front. I suspected mild ringbone in the right front, and negligible ringbone on left front- neither one involving the joint capsule- but vet didn't see any ringbone. (Am having second vet look at rads for verification.) Does this sound purely characteristic of ringbone problems or is there something else going on?

: My first suspicion would be toe pressure. Do you have sufficient clearance at the toe so no undue pressure is being applied by the shoeing package?

Turned out to be too much frog pressure. We pulled the frog pads and the horse walked off sound. I was hoof testing the horse everytime I worked on him because he had pain in various areas before I took him on. The last time I had worked on him though, he had no hoof pain, so I didn't think to test him before applying the EDSS. Apparently he had developed some frog soreness, however, and the frog support pads were just too much. Thanks for your input though.
