How to Submit Your Personal Farrier Web SitePlease understand that the logistics of maintaining a section such as this one can be a nightmare. For security purposes no one is allowed direct access to the server, (something I hope you appreciate when using your credit card in The Marketplace), and this means your Site must pass through my hands to be posted in this section. There's also the issue of accessibility: Many people write web pages that look really "cool," but the HTML coding is not easily accessible to all browsers. I'm careful to keep the coding clean and simple. Remember, it's content that differentiates a good site from a mediocre one. All those fancy, dazzling, spinning, blinking graphics are useless if they lock up browsers and don't convey useful information. Bearing this in mind, here are the rules for Sites submitted for this section:
That wasn't too painful, was it? Now, how do you actually get your Site online? There are a few ways to do it.
What should you post in your Site? Anything you want. A photo of you at work, some background information, what your interests are, your prices, what area you service, a picture of your pet iguana, etc.... It's your Site, be creative. Sounds good so far, right? But you have to be saying, "There's no such thing as a free lunch. What's the cost?" Well, you're right, I do have to charge something. I realize you can probably get free pages from your local ISP, but then your Site wouldn't be here, in the center of it all. Relax. I think you'll find the cost very acceptable. (If you're a member of a farriers association which has a Site in the Farriers Associations section of The Resource Center, you may deduct 20% off these prices. Membership and location have their advantages! All farriers with Personal Sites will also be listed in the Farrier Finder at no additional cost.)
I thought about putting a form in here for you to fill out, but since each of you will have to be given personalized service for this to be done correctly, I think it's a better idea if you e-mail me to arrange everything. The process will be much smoother. I look forward to hearing from you, and watching this section of The Resource Center grow. Return to the Farrier's Personal Sites main page. |
