April, 2003
(Please note that only the articles from the Newsletter are
presented here.)
February was kind of a slow month for MEFA, and
Steve has thoroughly covered the events at the convention. I hope everyone is
enjoying the warming weather, and cant wait to see you all at the Equine
Affaire. - Adam
President's Letter
There's been another change on the dates for the
AFA Pre-Certification Clinic. The clinic will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday,
April 8-9. Mitch Taylor had to change the dates due to a scheduling
conflict.
AFA Certification (all levels) is scheduled for
May 9-10 in Beverly, OH. Toby Burdette is coordinating the certification. All
horses are taken for the Practical portion of the exam but spots are still
available for the written portion. Richard Becker will be the examiner. For
details, contact Toby at (740) 743-3099.
MEFA will again have a booth at the Equine Affaire
from April 10-13. If you are able to spend time working the booth, contact Todd
Adams at (740) 965-2741. The AFA Team will be at the Equine Affaire. Team
members this year are Bill Poor, Austin Edens, John McNerney and Troy Price.
First alternate is Todd Walker and second alternate is Hank Highfield. I am
planning a hammer-in on Saturday, April 12 during the Equine Affaire at my
house. Plans are to start around noon and go until everyone has had enough. I
live about 20 minutes from the Ohio Expo Center. Call me at (740) 967-7463 for
directions or get directions at the MEFA booth.
Not much exciting to announce from the AFA
Convention is Salt Lake City, UT. They did raise the cost of the AFA
Pre-Certification Clinic and AFA Certifications. Membership will stay the same.
Next year's convention will be in Rochester, NY and the 2005 convention will be
in Chattanooga, TN.
We are working on finalizing details for the 2003
Fall Contest/Clinic. Troy Price will be the Judge/Clinician. The event will be
held at the Findlay Equine Facility. Dates are October 3-5. Michael McNutt and
I are co-coordinating the contest. Call Michael at (740) 826-9919 for
details.
If you haven't paid MEFA dues since the October
MEFA Clinic/Contest, you annual dues are due. Please use the
membership
form to renew your dues.
Also, it is time to join and/or rejoin the United
Aide Fund. If you currently participate in the fund or would like to join the
fund, send $40.00 to Michael McNutt at the address above. He can also send you
details on how the fund works.
I hope everyone is well and look forward to seeing
you at the Equine Affaire.
- Steve
